Where Does The Rubber Seal Go On A Ninja?

Where Does The Rubber Seal Go On A Ninja? The rubber seal sits at the base of the blades. There is a deliberate dent in the inner corner of the blender, mind you, it is not in the middle. It is on the side of the blade house. You can relate it to a rim. Rim is to tyre what this is to a rubber seal.

The way it magically sits is the same way a car tyre sits on its rim once the right size is installed and in the right way too. Use your fingers to walk the rubber seal around the inner corner at the sides of the blades jacket.

As you do so, be careful not to cut your fingers. Please use all your fingers if the need to do so arises. It is easy to install, yet technical. If not done properly, there is bound to be leakage which will mess up your countertop and even waste your recipes. No way! We can afford that.

What is a rubber seal by the way?

Contents

Well, it is usually round in shape and it forms some kind of a bond or joint between two objects. Its aim is to avoid leakage of substance in and out of the joint. Seal; whether rubber or metal, are also referred to as gaskets.

So if you know what a car gasket is and you understand its function, then it will be easy for you to relate its duties to that of the rubber seal in your blender.

This rubber seal we are talking about looks minimal/ simple/ordinary in appearance but its duty is massive.

Ever blended food without a rubber seal? Don’t even think about it because it will be disastrous. Just as the name implies, it is a SEAL. It blocks liquids and solid ingredients from escaping the container during processing.

If you can, please watch this video for practical experience

Every seal or gasket is designed to fit a particular machine. So yea, they come in sizes. There is no need to get an oversized seal and try to force it into your blender blades seat. It won’t work and even if you decide to manage it, be ready also, to manage the mess. The same applies to getting a smaller one, it will never sit.

All new appliances come with a seal on purchase. There’s hardly a mistake on that during assembling in the factory. However, feel free to check if you like to satisfy your curiosity.

Mind you that they wear out with time. This could be due to regular removal in order to clean the sitting area off moulds or dirt, that they have been trapped from the previous blend. It could wear out if it’s been used for a long period.

Most people don’t wait until they see signs of leakage, damage, or notice a stretch in the elasticity of the rubber, they just change it at will, to restore it back to optimal performance.

Cleaning the base isn’t bad but if you notice the damage during the process of removal or installation, quickly order a new one on Amazon.

Are All Blender Parts Interchangeable?

Blender parts are components that make up each blender. There are six basic part of a blender although it is not limited to only this six, the six are most commonly known and easily referred to. It includes: the housing (where the motor lives), the jar/container, the blades, gasket/rubber seal, the lid and the jar base.

Each of these parts are produced with special specifications that allows for easy identification during purchase. The blender part for a nutribullet will not fit that of a Hamilton blender.

Not all blender parts can be used in place of another.  Manufacturers have a way of changing their products from another’s design just to make theirs unique. The components look kind of alike when seen but differentiated by some features when closely examined.

You might have an old blender whose motor got burnt but the jar is intact with the hope to retain the jar when you get another blender.

The shocking news is that if you don’t get exactly the same motor and model of the burnt blender, there is likely going to be an issue using your previous container on it. Although, sometimes with are lucky but in most cases it won’t fit.

When you are buying a replacement for your blender parts please check if the specification matches that of your blender, else your purchase will be useless. Even the rubber seal come in sizes so watch for that too.

How Do You Clean The Rubber Seal On A Ninja Blender?

As discussed in the introductory paragraph, the rubber seal is round in shape. They seal up irregularities by closing up any loopholes between the blades and the container.

Every blender has a seal and this seal gets really dirty with time. It gets dirty because it acts as a stopper that restrains substances from spilling.

This is the mystery that allows us to blend liquids without any trace of mess from the blender base. While the seal is immersed with the recipes that settles at the base of the rubber, others just gum the surface area.

A quick rinse won’t totally get your seal cleaned. If you do a soap and water shake, it might just clean the side that’s revealed but the concealed area will remain unwashed, causing odour at intervals

To clean the rubber seal on a ninja blender you need to first uninstall the gasket. This process cannot be done with fingers due to the nature of the seal (tight and slug stuff) so, you will need a dental pick or a needle (either of the two), a pointed knife (preferable blunt) and protective hand gloves.

To clean the rubber, get a liquid soap, warm water, brush (to scrub the rim), a soft sponge or foam (for the rubber seal) and that’s it. Getting the stock food particles out is not easy because of the position of the seal.

If not cleaned regularly, it can contaminate our food as bacteria can breed there. It is therefore wise and healthy to know how to clean this minor but very important part of not just our blender but other machines as well.

How To Uninstall The Gasket/Rubber Seal

  1. Put on your protective hand gloves to observe safety. This will secure your fingers and reduce the risk of any casualties
  2. Place the blade jacket on the countertop.
  3. Use your knife, dental pick or needle to detach the rubber seal
  4. To successfully uninstall the seal, push the tip of any of the listed instruments in your possession and pull straight up. If you are using a needle please do not use the tip as it might puncture the rubber and make the edges rough.
  5. If it doesn’t make any impact be a little patient because the elastic nature of the seal will not allow it to come out easily. Notice that it will pull back as you try to pull it out
  6. Hold firm when you push in and pull out your instrument
  7. Once you have succeeded in bringing to the top the edge of the seal, the remaining part will fall out with ease.
  8. In a situation where the blade is housed permanently in the blender, find a way to unscrew it.
  9. Use a screwdriver to loosen the nut.
  10. Once done, the blade house will fall out. Giving you access to the seal.

How To Clean A Rubber Seal On A Ninja Blender

Steps to cleaning a rubber seal is quite easy. Once the separation process has taken place, observe carefully the next step. Now you have your rubber seal in its ring shape away from its rim. Your discovery might shock you (depending on how long you use your blades without cleaning the rim and rubber seal).

  • Step 1: put the rubber seal in a bowl of warm water
  • Step 2: Add some drops of liquid soap
  • Step 3:  press the seal down the warm water bowl and mix the solution to make bubbles.
  • Step 4: bring out your seal from the bubbles and wash softly with the foam or soft sponge.
  • Step 5:  gently wash the rubber seal to avoid stretching it.
  • Step 6: Rinse the soap off and keep to dry
  • Step 7: return to its original position using only your fingers(remember the protective gloves). This will also require focus and patience.

In most cases, the bubble making process does a good job in cleaning the seal. The essence of an extra wash is to remove what’s left. In the case of removing built-up moulds, you will need extra effort because moulds are very stubborn to remove.

Just as they take time to build up, they also need time to dissolve. It’s simple and straight, requiring no magic but the good news is that we are dealing with a blender seal, not a washing machine seal that is huge. So how do you remove moulds from a blender gasket?

How Do You Clean Molds Out Of A Blender Gasket?

Get a distilled white vinegar, baking soda or bleach, liquid soap, a brush and a bowl

  • First, place the bowl on your countertop
  • Drop the seal inside the bowl
  • Pour clean warm water into the bowl where the seal is sitting. The water level should completely cover the rubber seal.
  • Pour in your agents. (Distilled vinegar, baking soda or bleach)
  •  If you are using vinegar remember it must be distilled. Pour I’m a cup of distilled white vinegar into the bowl.
  • For baking soda, add about two and a half tablespoon of baking soda into the clean warm water.
  • For bleach, two small drops into the clean water m water will do.
  • Add some big drops of liquid soap
  • Mix the solution together.
  • Leave this on the counter for 15mins
  • Pour away the solution and observe the progress
  • Proceed to scrub by transferring the seal to another bowl of clean water or simply pour out the solution and replace it with clean water. Few drops of soap will be fine.
  • Add another 1/2 big drops of soap
  • Use your brush to scrub areas that need attention.
  • Always remember to go easy on the seal when scrubbing to avoid damage.
  • When you are done, rinse thoroughly and dry the seal

You will be totally amazed at the mind-blowing result you will get. The rubber seal is not all that needs maintenance, the rim does too. You may decide to give it a dry scrub and clean up with a wet cloth or immerse it into water and scrub.

I suggest a dry scrub since some blender blades are not washing machine compliant. Here is a quick walk down the road of cleaning a blender gasket rim: sprinkle some water into it, a drop of soap and give it a round scrub.

The round scrub refers to a round motion; clockwise or anticlockwise. Just scrub and let the lather naturally form. Do not be tempted to soak into water, just get a wet cloth for the job. Soak and squeeze the cloth at intervals till it is all cleaned up.

A question that usually pops up is the issue of stretching the rubber. We will agree that rubber seals become bigger when the cleaning is done regularly because of the force applied during uninstalling and installing.

Even the reaction of some cleaning agents can cause it to stretch. So if it is possible that the seal might slack, how can you shrink the rubber seal? The polymer chain in the rubber seal, allows it to stretch and contract. This makes it easy to manipulate.

How Do You Shrink Rubber Seal?

It is important that the seal fits tightly on its rim otherwise there will be leakage. Once we notice that it is sitting loosely in its place, make a quick change if you have a new one at home or purchase from the stores. If due to some circumstances you can’t get a new one, follow this method to shrink the seal to the required size.

  • Get a pot
  • Pour in some amount of water. The level shouldn’t exceed half of the pot
  • Put the oversized rubber seal into the pot and cover it
  • Put the water to a boil. It should boil for about 15/20mins then put off your stove.
  • Use a safe item to bring the seal out of the water and allow it to cool.
  • Reinstall the seal in its place to check if there’s been an adjustment. If it still doesn’t fit, repeat the same process and check at intervals so that you don’t make it too small to fit in.

I chose to share this with you for the sake of knowledge and to help those who must have bought the rubber seal that’s too big for their blade’s rim or slacked due to wear and tear but I really advise that a new one be bought to save us the stress of boiling and boiling. This is only a quick way in case of an emergency or financial constraint.
